Family Reunion/Vacation Day One

We had a fantastic time in Oklahoma last week!!! After a very eventful trip there (more later), we enjoyed a few days with both my immediate and extended family over the Fourth of July weekend. Each summer, we look forward to getting together, and even though the time goes by so quickly, we always have so much fun. I'll let the pictures do most of the "talking"!

We had quite the time getting to OK! After sitting in the West Palm Beach airport for several hours because of our plane delay, we finally arrived in Houston, only to find out that we would not be able to go on to OK that night. Because of mechanical problems and weather related issues, all the flights were totally messed up. Anyway, the airlines put us up in a hotel Wed. night. We got to our room at about midnight, and left our room at 6:00 a.m. to get to our early flight. Needless to say, we were pretty tired, but excited to get there! Payton was amazing, considering the circumstances. She was quite the little trooper!!!

I had to throw this picture in...palm trees in the midwest...who would have thought???

On Thursday afternoon, we all went to a huge park in Independence. We all have many wonderful memories of this park, as many family cook-outs, birthday parties, and other celebrations were held here growing up. It was so fun to watch our kids enjoying the same things we did as children. Of course, Payton is a little young to really do anything at the park, but she really enjoyed watching all the kids play! This big fire truck was a big hit as the kids climbed all over it.

My nephew, Zach, loved digging in the dirt/sand! He is growing up so fast!

My mom and brother...

Payton and I enjoyed sitting in the green grass...something we don't do in FL!!!

In the background, you can see some of the slides, etc. This is truly the best park in the whole world! I wish we had something like this in FL!

Robb and Payton...

Keith and Crystal's youngest daughter, Megan. For those of you in FL, doesn't this look just like Kristyn when they lived down here??? So cute!

Payton enjoyed all the attention from her cousins.

Zach found one of the girls' hats...he didn't seem to mind the flowers, but his daddy sure did!

Keith and Crystal's little boy, Owen, is growing up so much! He is ALL boy, if you couldn't tell!

Owen, Noel (for those who know Mandie and Bianca, this is their brother), and Karissa (Wes and Misty's second daughter).

Payton LOVED watching the kids play!

Zach and his Nana...

Getting better acquainted with Uncle Chad. She thought he was pretty funny!

This carousel has been in this park for 70+ years (I am pretty sure about that number, but not positive!) I remember LOVING this ride when I was little. Payton loved the movement!

They had to put a huge fence around it to prevent vandalism. The carousel still costs only 5 cents to ride!!!

There is also this little train that goes around the park, about a 8 min. ride. The train only costs 25 cents...we rode a couple of times! Zach is really into trains right now, and absolutely loved the train ride, even though he was getting really tired from playing so hard!

Right behind Zach and Chad is Jennifer and Jacob, their new little baby. He turned 8 weeks old while we were there.

Payton absolutely loved the relaxing train ride!

Keith and Owen...

My mom with Zach and Payton...

Even though our trip had a rocky start, the day turned out perfectly! Robb and I really enjoyed the relaxing time we spent with Payton!

Lots of great pictures. The kiddy swimming pool full of ice and drinks cracked me up!
